The Southern Ethiopia Community Protected Springs project is a Gold Standard certified carbon offset project. It is a micro-scale project, meaning it is a small-scale project with limited environmental impact. The project is located in the Southern Nations, Nationalities and People's Region (SNNPR) of Ethiopia. The project is designed to improve the health and well-being of local communities by providing access to safe water, by fixing broken boreholes. It is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 9,925 tCO2e per year. The project will also provide social and economic benefits to the community, such as increased time for women to engage in other activities, and reduced time spent collecting firewood.
