GS 12494 VPA-1 Distribution of Improved Cookstove by Alphabet Greens

The project, "GS12494 VPA - 1 Distribution of Improved Cookstove by Alphabet Greens," is a voluntary initiative by Alphabet Greens Private Limited to distribute improved cookstoves to households in rural India. The primary goal is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by decreasing the consumption of firewood compared to traditional biomass cookstoves. The project is being implemented in the states of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Orissa, with plans to expand to Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.   Environmental Benefits: The improved cookstoves are designed to significantly reduce fuel consumption, leading to decreased pressure on local forests, reduced deforestation and degradation, minimized soil erosion, and mitigated risk of flooding in hilly areas. They also contribute to mitigating climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.   Social and Community Benefits: The project aims to provide various benefits to communities, including improved health by reducing indoor air pollution and smoke inhalation from traditional cooking methods, decreased instances of respiratory illnesses, and reduced time spent collecting firewood, which disproportionately affects women. The time saved allows individuals more opportunities for other household tasks or supervising children. The project also creates employment opportunities for local people in the monitoring and maintenance of the cookstoves. It contributes to improved living environments for the recipients.
